Registering for the Arkansas State Insurance Exam

ISTA highly recommends that you complete your Arkansas License Application and obtain your testing permit prior to attending class. If you plan to test soon after completion of your class, you must have the test scheduled by the time you attend class (pending availability of seating that particular day).

To obtain a License Application, go to www.insurance.arkansas.gov

It is very important that you also download the License Application INSTRUCTIONS. To obtain the Instructions, go to www.insurance.arkansas.gov

The Instructions will answer all your questions about how to fill out the application and includes the mailing address for sending the License Application. FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER!! No blanks in required fields; if you make a mistake, strike-through and correct wrong information and initial (DO NOT scratch, white, or black-out any mistakes). If application becomes illegible due to errors, start over with a new application.

Life and Health/Accident are 2 exams and should be taken simultaneously if you have prepared properly.

Property/Casualty (Multi-line) is 1 exam containing both Personal Lines and Commercial Lines.

Personal Lines is 1 exam and excludes Commercial Lines.

We encourage you to complete the License Application for all exams you intend to take within the 3 months allotted on your Exam Permit. Each License Application submitted must include the Background Check form with appropriate fees.

Once your application is processed and approved, you will receive a test permit in the mail. You cannot schedule your exam until you receive this permit. The permit letter will have a toll free number to call for scheduling your exam. Or, you can go online at www.pearsonvue.com to schedule your exam. When scheduling the exam online you must have the ISTA school code 013.

NOTE: Prelicense class does not count for CE Credit.
